Can I get a Full Ride to college?
I am currently a senior in high school. My GPA is at 3.3 and my handicap is currently at a 4. I also get instruction at Jim McLeans Golf School in Fort Worth, Texas. The College that I am wanting to attend is Coastal Carolina in Conway, SC. They have a PGM degree that I really want to get into but at the same time play on a full ride on their golf team. Please I need feedback! ~Thank you!~
Jim McLean is a great school if I may add, and they have tons of connections to colleges.. so tcmae do not give me that bull that IJGA is the only way to play college golf. B/c I know very well its not the only way.
I also play in Texas Junior Golf Tour, Legends Junior Tour, and the US Junior Amateur Tour.
Yes you can but it won’t be easy. Get letters of recommendation from your high school counselor and Jim McLean’s golf school. If you want PGM major, make sure on your application that you emphasize the depth of your extracurriculars in and around golf and management, as opposed to breadth of just doing lots of outside things. Can you afford to make a trip there, soon, and talk to someone in admissions and the golf coach? You will need them on your side. You may have to just go there without the full ride and work up to it in Sophomore year. If you think you can do it, don’t give up. And, you need to get your app in before end of 2008 if you want to get accepted for Fall ’09. Good luck.
